Questions and Tips Regarding Your DISH Network System

HINT: Most problems with your receiver can be solved by simply unplugging the receiver, waiting one minute, plugging it back in, and waiting for it to finish downloading.

Watch channel 101 for information regarding basic satellite operation.

How do I turn my TV and Satellite on and off? 
STEP 1:    There are 2 red POWER Buttons on the top of the remote.  The small button is labeled TV and the larger button is for your satellite (SAT).
 
STEP 2:    Press the red POWER button for the correction function.
You may also use the POWER button on the TV or your original remote to power the TV only.

What do I do if I see snow?
#1    Confirm your satellite receiver is on:
        -Make sure the receiver is connected to an electrical socket and the socket is live.
        -Verify the receiver is getting power (indicated by the green/blue light.)
        -Follow the STEPS under How do I change channels with my satellite system?
#2    Check the possible channel positions for your TV (3,4, 73, input or HDMI)
#3    Make sure all connections between the TV and the receiver are tight and secure.

How do I change channels with my satellite system?
STEP 1:    Turn on the TV and the SAT (satellite) steps 1 and 2 listed above.
STEP 2:    Press the clear SAT button on the top of your satellite remote.
STEP 3:    Channel up & down with the blue arrows located above and beneath the SELECT button. 

How do I access my programming? 
There are 4 ways you can access your programming.
#1    Channel up with the blue up and down arrows above and beneath the SELECT button.
#2    Select a specific channel number by using the number key pad.
#3    Use the blue GUIDE button.  Scroll through available programs with the blue up and down arrows.  Use the blue arrow to the right of the SELECT button to view upcoming programming.  Press the SELECT button to view the desired program.
#4    Press the THEME button located to the left of the SELECT button.  Key in the corresponding number for the desired category.  Then press the THEME button to highlight the first available program.  After highlighting the first available program, use the blue up and down arrows to scroll through other available programs.  Press the SELECT button to view the desired program.

How do I record from satellite to my VCR?
Turn the VCR to the required channel (3,4 or input) and record.  The VCR needs to be on the same channel as your TV (3,4, or input.)  Then program your satellite to the channel you want to record.

Do I need to turn off my receiver(s) after watching TV?
No.    Your receiver(s) are designed to be left on for long periods of time. 

Why does my DISH Network receiver need to be connected to Broadband or a phone line?
A phone connection will allow you to view Caller ID on the TV screen, and Pay Per View which will give you the optimum DISH experience.

If you receiver is connected to a Broadband connection you will have access to thousands of On Demand titles as well as the ability to manage your DVR from anywhere!  Connect Colorado offers a wireless phone, ethernet or Slinglink that utilizes an electrical outlet as a phone Broadband jack extension.  Contact 303.462.4444 for details about how to get your receiver connected.

What is the most convenient way to pay my monthly bill?
We recommend credit card auto-pay.  This free service eliminates the worry of missing a monthly payment and makes tracking your personal expenses more convenient.

How do I use the Parental Locks?
STEP #1    Press the gray MENU button
STEP #2    Select #5 (Locks)
STEP #3    Select #5 (Change Password.)  At this point, create your own personal password.  We recommend you write down your password for future reference.  To change your Rating, Channel, and Pay-Per-View Locks, select the corresponding number in the Locks Menu.

How do I order Pay-Per-View (PPV)?
STEP #1    Confirm the phone line or Broadband connection on your receiver.  Select the desired PPV event with your remote.
STEP #2    Call 877DISHPPV (877.347.4778) and use the automated system    OR
        Call 877DISHPPV (877.347.4778) and talk with a customer service rep.  OR
        Order the PPV event online at www.dishnetwork.com/ppv

What should I do if I need to move?
Contact Connect Colorado 303.462.4444 to make arrangements to move your system.  DISH Network has many promotional packages that involve no costs to you.  You can also get one free DISH Mover per year by participating in DHPP or Club Dish.
